Is it possible to have your hair dyed almost the exact same color as your natural hair color?

I was wondering when a stylist dyes hair to match the persons natural color, do they match the color from the roots? What is a good amount to let my previously dyed hair grow, so the hair stylist can match up a good color to my roots?

the stylist can come pretty close to your natural color. I usually get my hair dyed every 6 weeks (about 3/4 of an inch of roots). However, i have medium brown hair and i went blonde for awhile and then decided to go back to my natural color....when the stylist matched my roots my hair was way darker than it was since i had a lot of natural highlights that made it lighter.

Make sure you have about an inch of your natural color. They come up with the hair sample ring. Stick it across in a good light see which one is the closest.

You really only need about half an inch or so. They're pros, they'll know what to do form there.
