hi everyone
i originally have black brown long curly hair, in 2004 i dyed it black, then in 2005 i dyed it blueblack, THEN this year i dyed it red 3 times [kept fading+roots] and then a couple of months ago, i dyed it black brown again.
problem is, now as well as having a little black at the bottom, the brown is fading a bit and you can see bits of red coming through in certain light. i really want my natural colour back, but im stuck with reddish brownish blackish mix!+roots!
what i want to know is, if i leave it for some time - will the red eventually fade and the brown dye eventually blend with my natural colour? [am cutting out the black slowly] or am i just living in la la land thinking i will eventually get back to natural?
i am strongly trying to avoid stripping and re-dying
thanks.

How can i get back to my natural hair colour?
My first suggestion would be to dye it a colour very close to your own hair colour (that is if your actual hair colour is impossible to get with dye). That way you wont see the roots and you wont have to cut your hair.
The only other option would to just let it grow out on its own. It will take a while, but your hair will be healthy and strong again.

accually, bleaching and stripping will probably be your best bet for the color you want to be exactly like you want it

Just let it grow. If you try to dye it again, who knows what colour you'll end up with.....lol.. First, get a hair cut. Try to take as much of the damaged hair away so you have some nice healthy hair to work with. Next, use a clarifying shampoo (it will help you hair to get rid of the excess colour, head and shoulders will also help the colour to wash out) depending on the length of your hair..it would be a while but will be well worth the wait. When I wanted to go natural after 10 years of dyeing, I cut my mid back length hair to shoulder length and washed my hair with a clarify shampoo and a strong conditioner. i was back to natural in a year :0)

Well ummmmmmmm the old colors will fade soon and try to kepp dieing it to look like your normal color and wait till it grows back.

The worst possible thing you could do is to dye your hair again. For one, the chemicals in that stuff are really bad for your hair and for another, if you keep coloring it, the longer you'll have to wait to get your natural color back again.
I am in the same predicament. My hair is multi-colored from dying it in the past too many times and I have dark roots coming in. The only thing you can really do is wait for the dyed hair to grow out. What I'm doing is getting my hair trimmed about every 6 weeks or so, and waiting for my real hair color to grow in completely. Yes it's a long process but it's about the only thing a person can do when they want their natural hair back again. I think it'll be worth the wait when the natural hair grows in completely...think about how much less damaged it'll be from no chemicals.
Good luck! :-)
