How can a woman get her natural hair color back without dark roots growing out?

I've been dying my hair for a while. I want to go back to my natural color without having to let it grow out and dark roots showing.

Dye the whole thing a shade closest to your natural color.

i dont know. If it's a non permanent dye which washes off after a few washes, then just wash your hair lots. But if it's permanent you'll just have to wait for it to grow out.

You could dye it your natural color or you could get low lights so that you're roots will not be as noticeable when they start to grow out.

Spend the money and go to a salon once your roots are showing. They will be able to best match the dye to your natural color and if it's not perfect, it will be barely noticable when it does grow out 100%.

I'm assuming from what your saying is that you have been lightening your hair.

Tell your hairstylist that you want to go back to your natural color and need to have what we call a tint-back.

I just dealt with this problem an hour ago. I've been lightening my dark brown hair with Loreal Light brown for over a year and it seems like my hair is just getting redder and redder and I've grown tired of having to lighten my roots every six weeks.

After researching this board and other places, I decided on trying a toner to go back to my natural color. I went to Sally's beauty oultlet and bought Clairol Second Nature toner in medium ash brown. Along with it, you have to buy a developer to mix it with (Clairol pure white 10). Mix 2 oz of developer with the 2 oz bottle of toner. Leave on 30 minutes.

My hair is back to ONE beautiful color right now....dark brown!!! I love it.

I'm not sure what your hair color is but if you want to get rid of the red, get an ash tone with blue or violet base to neutralize the red.

I was a nervous wreck doing it because of all the coloring I've already done, but it was either take the chance or keep coloring my roots. My hair came out soft and shiny. I highly recommend a toner, because it doesn't have a color lift in it (like store brands).

Another option is to highlight your hair so while your hair's growing out, it will be less noticeable (unless there's an extreme difference). I almost went this route, but decided to take the lower maintenance way.
